Marshmallow Crispy Squares

These treats have become a childhood tradition. For variations on the classic, consider mixing in colored marshmallows, chocolate chips, nuts, bite-size candies, or using one of the feature puffed rice cereals, such as cocoa flavored, instead of the original.

Makes: 12 servings, two squares each

  • 3 Tbsp. butter or margarine
  • 1 pkg. (10-1/2 oz.) JET-PUFFED Miniature Marshmallows
  • 6 cups crisp rice cereal

  • MELT butter in large saucepan on low heat. Add marshmallows; cook until marshmallows are completely melted and mixture is well blended, stirring constantly. Remove from heat.

    ADD cereal; mix well.

    PRESS firmly into greased 13x9-inch pan. Cool completely. Cut into 24 squares to serve.

    I've made these for years and find them very versatile. I've put them in my son's lunch as well as my husband's lunch. They travel very well on car trips as well as they do not melt or get messy. Just wrap them in wax paper.
