Homework Log Sheet

This is a generic homework log usable by teachers and parents trying to assist a student who struggles with organizational skills. Depending on age and ability, the student or teacher fills out the subject, assignment, and due date, and the teacher signs to verify the accuracy of each entry. In turn, a parent signature field can be used to keep the student, parent, and teacher in clear communication while late or missing homework issues are resolved.

It's simple, but this carries the endorsement of my mother, a veteran teacher of 20 years (mostly 3rd grade, where these problems start to emerge.) One thing she points out is that some teachers will not distribute such logs themselves because it does, indeed, create more work for them. All the more reason for us to have something like this available on the site. If your child is having trouble meeting school responsibilities, you have to take the initiative as the parent. You can't count on your child's teacher to do everything for you!
